Bird Log 18th June 2008
The following photos were taken at the Blackbutt Nature Reserve at Newcastle. This is a nature reserve very close to the centre of the city
and a popular place for families and nature lovers. The following are the bird species that I saw:
- Black Swan
- Australian Wood Duck
- Pacific Black Duck
- Chestnut Teal
- Laughing Kookaburra
Australian Wood Duck

Camera settings were : 1/1600 second, f/5.6, ISO400 with a 400 mm lens. The camera was a Canon 40D.
The Australian Wood Duck has a scientific name of Chenonetta jubuta.
Pacific Black Duck

Camera settings were : 1/200 second, f/5.6, ISO400 with a 400 mm lens.
The Pacific Black Duck has a scientific name of Anas superciliosa.
Chestnut Teal

Camera settings were : 1/250 second, f/5.6, ISO400 with a 400 mm lens.
The Chestnut Teal has a scientific name of Anas castanea.
Laughing Kookaburra

Camera settings were : 1/1600 second, f/5.6, ISO400 with a 400 mm lens.
The Laughing Kookaburra has a scientific name of Dacelo navaeguineae.
